15 weeks post relaxer, I have no idea what my next course of action will be. I have been thinking a lot about it lately, and I just cannot agree with myself on anything. I knew going on a hair journey would be tough, I just never thought it’d be that hard. I wonder how many of you ladies go/went through this with your hair. Please tell me some of you do. I’d hate to think that I am the only indecisive/confused one out there.
Anyways, when I started my hair journey, I had no idea what I was doing, nor what to expect. I didn’t even know I was on a hair journey. I was the girl looking for answers to her badly damaged hair. After consulting youtube and numerous blogs, I decided the solution to my problem was to stretch my relaxers. As I dug deeper I started convincing myself that going back to my roots and going natural wouldn’t be so bad. That’s how I’m here today, 14 weeks no relaxer and counting, and I still have no desire to relax my hair. Of course that brings us to my dilemma. Should I big chop or not?
I believe cutting my relaxed hair and starting from scratch would solve my problem. I’ve talked about it to several people in my entourage, and their answers are pretty much the same: “Don’t do it. Why do you want to go natural? It won’t be pretty on you. It is hard maintaining natural hair”. My fiancé isn’t against me going natural, but he is completely against me chopping my hair off. Total blow to hear him disapprove. He is usually down with whatever I do, unless I’m totally irrational. Needless to say that I am at a complete crossroad and it is bugging the life out of me.
One thing I know for sure, I am sick and tired of managing my hair with two different textures: part natural, part relaxed. I am equally sick and tired of seeing my hair all over the bathroom floor. If you’ve made it this far, what do you think I should do? Honest opinions are welcomed ⇓. Please share your story with me.
