3 Secrets To Enjoying A Low-Stress Life

Do you ever at times feel like life throws things at you that you have no idea how to handle which ends up turning you into a stress ball? Are you the kind of person who tries to fix everything whether or not you know how?

That’s usually me. I sometimes stress over everything and nothing until I feel myself going crazy. But, after many anxiety attacks that kept me up all night and caused me to break out uncontrollably, I decided enough was enough. I told myself I needed to react less and figure out the best way to live my life with as little stress as possible.

See, at 31 I’m quite young and I refuse to start having gray hair and start getting sick over things I can’t control. And the only way to do that is to learn to live a low-stress life.

Now I said low stress and not stress-free because realistically, I think it’s nearly impossible not to stress over certain things. And though I think a stress free life might be unattainable (unless you’re a child), a low-stress life, on the other hand, is more than achievable as long as you consciously work at it.

Do I have all the answers? NO. Am I an expert? Definitely not. But, after many stressful episodes and realizing that most of the things I usually stress about are things that are beyond my control, I decided it was time to approach life a little bit different and told myself that I needed to learn how to live a low-stress life.

Below you’ll find a list of different things I’ve started doing that is helping me achieve a certain level of peace in my life.

1- Take a step back to analyze the situation.

Not everything that happens deserves an extreme reaction. At first, it might seem like the end of the world, but it probably isn’t. Take a step back and take a few deep breaths and ask yourself is it really worth the aggravation? A lot of times when things happen, we immediately react and start going crazy when at the end of the day it really wasn’t that serious.

After you take a few deep breaths and calmly analyze everything, you then can figure out the depth of the situation and figure out the best way to handle it.

2- Don’t go crazy over situations you can’t control.

Going crazy won’t fix the issue. It only gets you more irritated and tired. Ever notice that after you go crazy, the problem still remains? Yeap, it happens all the time. The worst part is, finding out you can’t do anything about it, yet you’ve already spent a ton of unnecessary energy.

Certain things are just beyond your control and sometimes you just need to learn to let go and let God.

3- Find a go-to activity that can help you relax.

There are plenty of things out there that you can do to teach you how to relax and take things easy.

My thing is hot yoga. I briefly spoke about it in my last post My life as a loner. The reason why I love hot yoga so much is that it has the ability to relax not only the body but also the mind. I might walk into a hot yoga session with the weight of the world on my shoulders and walk out light as a feather feeling like I can conquer the world.

Try it! And if you decide hot yoga is not for you, you can try regular yoga. But if you’re just not into yoga at all for whatever reason, there are other activities you can try as well. My number 2 go-to activity that helps me with living a low-stress life is running. It has similar results to hot yoga.

If you’re open to finding out how hot yoga can help you live a low-stress life, find a studio close to you and give it a try. They usually have specials for newcomers.

Keep in mind you will need a few things to get started with your practice.

These are just some basics. I will write a more detailed post on the subject soon. Stay tuned.

Anyways guys, this is my secret to finding peace and living a low-stress life.

At the end of the day, there is no such thing as a stress-free life like I mentioned earlier. But one can live a low-stress life as long as you actively take the steps towards it. The key to living a low-stress life is knowing when to react and what to react to.

I don’t have all the answers, but one thing I know for sure is once I started doing everything I talked about above, my life has improved and has become much more enjoyable. So feel free to use what I’ve shared with you in the post or just find what works for you.

The most important is finding peace of mind and not constantly stress over everything that gets thrown at you.

What bout you what do you do to reduce stress in your life? Have you tried any of the tips I shared here? If so, let me know or just share with me your own tips and tricks.

  • These are great suggestions. I like how you used the phrase 'low stress' instead of 'stress free'. We can't avoid stress, but we can definitely manage it.

  • Reading your post (well written and so needed) and then the comments made me feel better to know I am not alone. I am really trying to lower my stress and anxiety. These tips are great! I have been getting into a more consistent prayer life along with exercise and mindfulness. So far so good but I have a way to go. It takes awhile to train your mind to slow down and let go! Thanks for sharing!

  • Oh how I miss yoga.. and pilates... and Taebo. Billy Blanks was my best friend, at times, my only friend when I was stressed out. I have no outlet now that I am working around the clock. This is a good reminder to find one asap before I burn out.

  • Learning how to not go crazy has been a lesson I needed to learn so bad. Thankfully I have and it is helping me to eliminate my stress.
