Relaxer Stretch or Natural Hair

There comes a time in our lives when we must make certain decisions: what outfit to wear for an interview, the best school for our kids, where to go for vacation etc… Some more important than others. As women, what to do with our hair is one of those important decisions. I am at a crossroad. I am currently debating whether I should end my relaxer stretch and go back to the creamy crack, or just flip the script and go natural. This, believe it or not is one of the biggest decisions of my life. I’ve been relaxing my hair at a very young age, and have been addicted to it ever since. Unfortunately over the years, I have seen my hair slowly deteriorate which is why I decided to slow down on relaxing it. Now I’m at a point where I don’t really know how to handle my hair. What should I do?…

My Hair Story

My story is similar to that of most brown girls. At an early age I was introduced to ‘Creamy crack” (relaxer) to tame my mane. Growing up, people didn’t really do much to their natural curls, they didn’t really know how to take care of them. I was tired of the pain I experienced each time my hair was being combed out, and of course felt ugly compared to the other girls my age with straight hair. So at the tender age of 13 if I remember correctly, I had my first relaxer and never went back. I remember that day as if it was yesterday. The excitement I felt was beyond anything you can think of. I was scheduled to have the relaxer applied after getting off school. Boy, was I impatient that day. It was the longest school day ever. And then the time came… I remember the hairdresser…
